Land & Structure provided survey, design and structural engineering for the redevelopment of this lakeshore property at Lake Tulloch. The existing site had an old modular house which had been used as a vacation home by an extended family group. While the site was amazing, the old structure had seen better days and the family desired a new structure that maximized living space, views of the lake, outdoor living and sleeping capacity while keeping to a very modest budget.
Site improvements included the construction of a lower patio area between the house and the existing boat dock creating terraced options for outdoor living. The area under the main deck was developed for storage of water toys.
The simple roof design incorporated clearstory windows bringing light into the living space from both directions and a porch roof extension over the back deck to limit the intrusion of the harsh western sun in the afternoons.
The success of this project was partly due to a Client who had well defined priorities and who ‘stuck to their guns’ to get what they wanted. This home will provide many happy memories for generations to come, as the old home had in the past.
